Problem: Challenged with a unique audio cable design to
greatly speed signal transmission with minimal attenuation, Bay Associates' wire and cable specialists devised a manufacturing process to create the intricate component constructions that comprise the hybrid cable.
Solution: Attacking the unique Litz wire construction for the cable first, Bay Associates designed and constructed a special machine to strand the magnet wire into the complex Litz cores
required by the application specifications. The cable then underwent a series of involved manufacturing and testing processes to ensure the completed cable met the demanding matched electrical and minimal
signal loss and cross talk requirements.
Problem: A low voltage speaker wire application called
for a rugged, yet highly flexible two-conductor cable with RFI/EMI shielding and a durable, abrasion resistant jacket that would meet a tight size requirement of just .096".
Solution:
For flexibility, Bay Associates' engineers opted for a high strand count of ultra-fine wire for the two conductors and encased them in a soft polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation. An
overall shield of 42 AWG wire provided effective RFI/EMI shielding while offering additional flexibility. To achieve the rugged yet flexible demands of the application design, a thermoplastic rubber compound
was selected for the jacket, providing a low cost solution to their design problem.
